Institute Members are faculty members of the University of Pittsburgh or one of the affiliated institutions. They are deeply engaged in the intellectual life of the McGowan Institute and are responsible for setting its scientific direction. Core Institute Members have their primary laboratories at McGowan Institute facilities.
Affiliate Institute Members help drive the McGowan Institute’s scientific mission by acting as thought partners, collaborators, and leaders.
The McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine is led by Director Dr. Chandan K. Sen and a dedicated administrative team that empowers our faculty and researchers to excel. This group provides strategic oversight, operational support, and partnership facilitation, enabling breakthroughs in regenerative medicine, wound healing, space biomedicine, and beyond.
