Research

The McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine drives discovery and translation in regenerative medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Our faculty and research teams develop innovative therapies that repair, restore, and regenerate tissues and organs, addressing some of the most pressing challenges in human health — from chronic wounds and battlefield injuries to organ failure and degenerative disease. Under the leadership of Director Dr. Chandan K. Sen, we integrate biology, engineering, and clinical science across the full research spectrum — from fundamental mechanistic studies and technology development to preclinical modeling and human trials.
